How long does SEO take for Dubai real estate?

An honest SEO timeline for a Dubai real estate website: what happens in month one, months two to three and four to six, and what to measure along the way.

By Editorial team6 min read

It's the first question most agency owners ask us, and it deserves a straight answer. The honest one is: some things move within weeks, the searches that bring in most business usually take months, and nobody can tell you the exact date your phone will start ringing.

Google doesn't give a timeline either. Its own guide to hiring an SEO suggests asking what results to expect "and in what timeframe", and says plainly that "no one can guarantee a #1 ranking on Google" (Google: Do you need an SEO?). What we can do is explain what a realistic first six months looks like for a Dubai real estate website, what speeds it up or slows it down, and how to tell whether it's working.

The short answer

Fixes to things that are plainly broken, such as a page Google can't index or a wrong category on your Google Business Profile, can show up within days or weeks. Competitive searches usually take several months of steady work. Searches for well-known communities like Dubai Marina or Downtown Dubai are contested by many agencies as well as Bayut and Property Finder, and a new or neglected site starts behind agencies that have been building reviews, pages and links for years.

So plan in months, and judge progress every month on the numbers below.

Month 1: fix what's holding you back

The first month is about removing problems, not adding content.

  • Technical fixes. Pages hidden from Google by a stray "noindex" tag or a blocking robots.txt file, a missing sitemap, broken links, an insecure http:// version of the site, slow mobile pages. Our SEO checklist for Dubai real estate websites walks through all of them. Even after a fix, Google has to visit the page again: it says crawling can take from a few days to a few weeks, and that asking for a crawl doesn't guarantee a page will be included (Google on recrawling).
  • Google Business Profile. The right primary category, services, hours, photos and a description that names the communities you cover, with the same name and phone number as your website. Our Google Business Profile checklist covers it field by field, and it's the core of our local SEO service.
  • Tracking. Before anything else changes, make sure you can count tap-to-call clicks, WhatsApp clicks and form enquiries from your website, and note your profile's current figures. Without a starting point, you can't tell later what moved.

What you might see: pages reappearing in Google and a profile that finally shows the right details. What you probably won't see yet: a big change in enquiries.

Months 2 to 3: build the pages buyers search for

  • Service and area pages. A page for each main service (buying, selling, renting, property management, off-plan) and for each community you genuinely work in, such as Business Bay or JVC. Each one should be genuinely useful: your current listings, the agents who cover the area, and answers to the questions clients ask you. Thin pages with the community name swapped in don't help.
  • A review routine. Ask every happy client for a Google review at the natural moment: a handover, a signed tenancy, a completed sale. A steady routine matters more than a one-off push, and Google's rules forbid offering payment or discounts in return (Google Maps content policy).
  • Easy contact. A WhatsApp button and a tap-to-call number on every page, including listings.

What you might see: new pages being indexed, and Search Console starting to show impressions for longer, more specific searches. Clicks and calls often follow later.

Months 4 to 6: content, reviews and links

  • Content that answers real questions. Guides to the topics your clients keep asking about, such as buying off-plan, registering a tenancy with Ejari or what to look for in a particular community. Written by people who know the market, not mass-produced. See our content service.
  • Links and mentions. Relevant, local ones: business directories that matter in the UAE, developer partner pages, local press, events you take part in. Buying links to influence rankings breaks Google's spam policies (Google spam policies). Our link building service explains how we earn them instead.
  • Keep going. More reviews, area pages refreshed with current listings, and conversion improvements based on what the tracking shows.

What you might see: your pages appearing for more searches, more people viewing your profile and taking action, and enquiries starting to come from searches that name your services and areas. In the most contested areas it can take longer, and there's no guaranteed point at which it happens.

What speeds it up or slows it down

  • Competition. A boutique agency focused on one newer community usually faces fewer competitors than one chasing "apartments for sale Dubai Marina".
  • Your site's age and history. A domain with years of pages, reviews and links behind it has a head start. A site that was rebuilt or moved without redirecting the old pages can lose ground before it gains any.
  • Where you start. If the main problem is a noindex tag, things can move quickly once it's removed. If the site needs a full rebuild, add that time first (see our website rebuild service). Our research on Dubai real estate websites shows where they most often lose points.
  • What only you can do. Reviews, real photos, and how fast your team replies. Buyers often contact several agencies at once, so a slow reply can lose an enquiry that SEO worked hard to win.
  • How much work goes in each month. More pages, fixes and outreach per month generally means progress shows sooner. Our pricing page shows what each plan includes.

What to measure (not just traffic)

Traffic on its own can mislead. A blog post about Dubai visas could bring in thousands of visitors who will never buy or rent through you. Measure the things that connect Google to your business:

  • Enquiries from your website: forms, tap-to-call clicks and WhatsApp clicks, tracked separately.
  • Your Google Business Profile: calls, website clicks, direction requests and messages, plus how many people viewed your profile on Google Search and Maps (Google on profile performance).
  • Search Console: clicks and impressions for searches that name your services and communities (what clicks and impressions mean).
  • Positions for a short list of searches that matter to you, checked monthly. Local results depend partly on where the searcher is, so expect them to vary (how Google ranks local results).
  • Deals. Which enquiries became viewings, listings and signed deals. Our SEO calculator works out what one Google enquiry is worth to you and how many extra enquiries a month would cover a plan.

Why a "top spot in 30 days" promise is a red flag

Google warns against SEOs that claim to guarantee rankings or a special relationship with Google (Google: Do you need an SEO?), and says there's no way to request or pay for a better local ranking (how Google ranks local results). When someone promises the top spot in a month, it usually means one of three things: a search nobody actually types, paid ads presented as SEO, or shortcuts like bought links and fake reviews that break Google's rules and can cost you your profile.

Better questions to ask any agency, including us: what exactly will you do each month? How will we measure it? What will the monthly report show? And can I stop if it isn't working?

How we handle it

We start with an audit, agree a 90-day plan, then continue month to month, with a monthly report on calls, WhatsApp enquiries and form leads. See how it works for real estate agencies and property management companies, or compare plans on our pricing page.

The quickest way to know how long your own site might take is to see where it stands today. Our free SEO audit shows what's holding it back, in plain English, and whether month one is a few quick fixes or something bigger.
